Summary:
Summary: Provides support to individuals and families who need assistance with food and other social services including referrals for utilities education and training health legal aid and employment. Manager must speak Spanish and is required to complete training and certification as a Food Safety Manager.

Responsibilities:

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

Complete the registration process with individuals seeking assistance from the food pantry including conducting the initial interviews reviewing the required eligibility paperwork determining needs and establishing a schedule for visiting the food pantry.

Make recommendations for agencies and organizations from which the family may seek support to meet their individual needs. Assist in making referrals to those agencies when the individual has language barriers or other difficulties that make it difficult to follow-through on referrals. Maintain knowledge of community resources investigating their eligibility requirements and referral processes. Keep a Resource Manual up-to-date as new resources are found and old ones change.

Manage the food pantry maintaining an appropriate stock of food and storing it according to regulations. Management includes selecting an appropriate balance of nutritious foods ordering in a timely manner from the RI Food Bank according to their procedures unpacking it with the assistance of volunteers and processing the invoices appropriately. Order the weekly produce and manage its distribution.

Distribute food and other products fairly and according to RIFB guidelines for family size without cost to the recipient.

Coordinate the monthly receipt of food contributed from the USDA via ProCap.

Maintain records of individuals and families served completing required monthly reports for the RI Food Bank.

Maintain certification as a RI Food Bank Food Safety Manager attending annual training as required.

Assist in implementing the holiday food and gift programs in collaboration with other Cap City staff and volunteers.

Manage the program budget to ensure that revenue and expenses are on track with projections.

Coordinate volunteers assigned to the department directing and supervising their work and ensuring that they have a supportive and positive experience.

Coordinate facility needs with Providence Housing Authority; maintain a clean and organized environment.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
High School Degree; one year experience working with individuals and families in a social service setting; Spanish-speaking preferred.
JOB KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS
Knowledge of community resources. Fluent in speaking and reading Spanish and English. Oral and written communication skills including speech grammar spelling and legibility are at proficient level to ensure effective and appropriate communication with staff and the public. Ability to add subtract multiply and divide in all units of measure using whole numbers common fractions and decimals either manually or by use of a calculator.
