Overview
The Environmental Services Supervisor is responsible for the management of the departmental responsibilities as they apply for the overall philosophy and objectives of St. Luke's Hospital. Foremost among these responsibilities are the development, implementation, and direction of departmental programs and staffing to provide for outstanding delivery of service to St. Luke's Hospital. Responsibilities
Education
- The associate is aware of hospital and department compliance for federally funded healthcare programs (e.g. Medicare and Medicaid) regarding fraud, waste and abuse. Brings any questions or concerns regarding compliance to the immediate attention of department or hospital administrative staff.
- Successfully completes hospital-wide orientation, annual hospital competencies and department/unit specific competencies.
- For the safety of our patients and co-workers, St. Luke's Hospital requires seasonal and job related vaccinations. This is reviewed regularly during periodic health assessments.
- Maintain departmental compliance with all regulatory/accreditation requirements. Implement policies and procedures that direct and support the provisions of services within regulatory guidelines.
- Facilitates orientation, in-service, on the job training and continuing education programming to meet identified staff development needs.
- Facilitates the completion of annual competencies and performance appraisals with all assigned direct reports
- Collaborate with hospital and departmental staff and regulatory agencies to provide in-services and education opportunities to increase knowledge and ability to provide customer service.
- Develop and implement department policies and procedures that guide and support the provision of service. Manage service and staff performance in relation to those standards, policies and procedures. Develop standards of accountability and reporting
Customer Service
- Purposefully conducts all aspects of the job in an ethical manner in support of the hospital's commitment to ethical behavior in all areas of personal and professional activity.
- Communicates activities within the department to the Environmental Services Manager and other supervisory personnel as they affect operations.
- Oversees timely completion of cleaning of rooms upon dismissal or transfer from St. Luke's Hospital and assures a sanitary environment and a positive comfortable impression for incoming patients/families.
Management
- The Environmental Services Supervisor is a member of the management team that promotes the philosophy, programs, and initiatives of St. Luke's Hospital and the Environmental Services Department.
- Coordinate work of associates in assigned area of responsibility.
- Supervise use of chemicals, tools and equipment for safety and appropriateness.
- Oversee staffing to ensure operations within established operating budget guidelines.
- Develop improved Environmental Services delivery team structures and process for specific customer focused areas
- Conduct personnel functions including hiring, and counseling. Seek and retain personnel with the attitude, qualifications and competence to support the skill level required and the standards established for the department.
- Performs other duties as assigned as work is expected to vary with changing needs and priorities.

Qualifications
- Must be at least 18 years old.
- Writes, reads, comprehends and speaks fluent English.
- One to two years of experience in Environmental Services or other service related leadership experience in a health care environment.
