About the Job

This is a blanket requisition and there may or may not be positions available at this time. These positions are available to persons holding a PhD or Master's degree in areas related to bioproducts and biosystems engineering and sustainable systems management.
The positions provide classroom teaching for courses that supplement our faculty offerings and/or expertise of our faculty. Duties vary according to each position, dependent on subject matter. Included in the duties are developing and teaching courses, advising students with regard to academic concerns and school-related organizations. May provide service-related teaching duties as well. These positions are temporary and part time. This does not constitute a posting for vacancies but establishes a pool of applicants. Applicants will be selected from this pool on an as-needed basis during the academic year. Appointments may be renewable based on need, funding, and performance.

Job Duties

Teach undergraduate engineering or sustainability courses during the academic
year. Course assignments will be made by the department head based on the
department's needs. These examples do not include all possible responsibilities in the work and do not limit the assignment of related responsibilities.

  • 20% prepare and deliver lectures
  • 20% prepare homework assignments, quizzes, and exams
  • 15% hold office hours
  • 20% assess student work
  • 15% supervise the teaching assistants
  • 10% manage the administration of the course
Qualifications

Required Qualification

  • Master's degree is required. The appointee is not required to have the same credentials expected of faculty but must have demonstrated competence to teach the course material. Professional and/or teaching experience related to assigned instructional responsibilities may be required
  • Demonstrated commitment to instruction that supports diverse learners and builds inclusive classroom environments

  • Experience teaching undergraduate engineering or sustainability courses
Pay and Benefits

Pay Range: $41,600 - $60,000 depending on education/qualifications/experience

Time Appointment: 75%-100% Appointment

Position Type: Faculty and P&A Staff
