Description

The Department of Molecular and Medical Pharmacology is looking to hire a Staff Research Associate I to support research through data processing, storage management, and analysis. This position involves processing sequencing data from patient tumors and model systems, including raw whole exome and RNA sequencing data, into analysis-ready formats. Responsibilities also include managing large datasets across multiple platforms and maintaining detailed records. The role requires close collaboration with experimentalists to identify analytical approaches that complement their experiments, enhance pipeline outputs, and generate results and visualizations for ongoing projects.

Hourly range: $26.52-$31.63

Qualifications

Required:

  • Basic understanding of biology and programming;
  • Organized and detail-oriented; maintains up-to-date, accurate and organized schedules and records on a timely basis;
  • Ability to multi-task to meet deadlines; Ability to work independently and troubleshoot scheduling conflicts, etc; Skilled at working with R and/or python, spreadsheets, and email
  • Ability to follow directions and to both work independently and to work well with a team when needed; Ability to keep maintain organized directory structures;
  • B.S. (or M.S. preferred) in Computational Biology, Bioinformatics, or related field.

Preferred:

  • Previous experience working with sequencing/omics datasets (DNAseq, RNAseq, metabolomics, etc.)
