Temporary Employment Program
Job Summary This temporary role is for 6 months, and has the potential to be extended beyond that.
UCSF's Temporary Employment Program (TEP) recruits and hires temporary employees for immediate clerical and technical support services to UCSF Departments and various off-campus locations. UCSF departments deploy temporary employees to work on special projects, fill in for regular employees who are on vacation or leave, or to temporarily fill a vacant position during recruitment. Frequently temporary employees become successful candidates for career and limited appointment positions.
Under direct supervision, this position is responsible for assisting with the organization's basic recruiting needs, in accordance with operating procedures. The primary purpose of this role is to support TA with administrative responsibilties assocated with job vacancies and new hire questions or concerns. This individual will work closely with recruiters, as well as candidates, to ensure a positive end-to-end hiring experience.
- Source, screen, interview and extend candidate employment offer for skilled operational and technical and professional levels
- Conduct hiring manager req intake meetings to determine specific needs and requirements associated with job posting.
- Manages outreach related activities to build and assess qualified applicants, as needed.
- Called upon to assist in departmental staffing projects and initiatives when assigned.
- Partners with TEP Operations team on department audits.
- Participates in employment advertising campaigns and programs.
- Applies organization policies and procedures in addressing and resolving moderately complex staffing needs.
- Supports the TEP Manager with special projects, trainings, facilitating meetings, and other duties as assigned.
The final salary and offer components are subject to additional approvals based on UC policy. The hourly range for this role is $31.00 to $35.00/hr. Please note: An offer will take into consideration the experience of the final candidate AND the current salary level of individuals working at UCSF in a similar role. For roles covered by a bargaining unit agreement, there will be specific rules about where a new hire would be placed on the range. Required Qualifications
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills as well as active listening and critical thinking skills.
- Demonstrated abilities associated with problem identification; reasoning; ability to work with business units in the development of ideas to solve staffing issues.
- Demonstrated analytical skills to conduct analysis and develop recommendations.
- Is organized and plans ahead in completing work tasks. Productive, efficient and able to simultaneously juggle multiple demands and get things accomplished.
- Uses appropriate interpersonal style to steer members toward the goals. Organizes resources to accomplish tasks with maximum efficiency.
- Consistently responds promptly and efficiently to problems and tasks. Rarely late for meeting project deadlines and is punctual.
- Expresses oneself effectively both orally and in written form. Actively listens to others.
- Treats others with respect and dignity. Promotes a productive culture by valuing individuals and their contributions.
Preferred Qualifications
- Administrative skills and experience, including Microsoft Word, Excel and Powerpoint as well as calendar management. 1-3 Years required.
- Basic knowledge of employment law.
- Knowledge of common software used within employment and other areas of HR, and how they work together.
- Knowledge of HR processes and forms and knows organizational and departmental principles and procedures.
- Working knowledge of the recruitment, screening, interviewing and referral processes.
- Working knowledge of organizational policies and procedures; knowledge of functional area and understands how work may impact other areas.
