About the role

We are looking for a Project Engineerto join our Engineering Department which is responsible to manage the Capital Projects Portfolio and provide engineering and construction services for Boron Operations and Wilmington Operations. The Engineering Team manages over 60 annual Capital Projects and assist in supporting production with technical knowledge and troubleshooting skills and providing both day to day guidance as well as developing and leading improvement projects.

The Project E will deliver multiple projects during all stages, with a focus on prefeasibility and feasibility stages. This is a great opportunity to have close contact with different projects stakeholders from operations, processing, environmental, safety, maintenance teams to ensure compliance with the RTB Capital plan. Collaborating with operations to troubleshoot and execute optimization changes.

Working in a collaborative community, you will be:

  • Ensure projects are managed with the high attention to safety and in accordance with Rio Tinto Health, Safety and Environmental standards.
  • Actively participate in HSEQ systems such as Critical Risk Management Verifications, Interactions, near hit reporting, incident reporting and analysis, inspections, risk assessments, management review, element championing, etc.
  • Manage multiple projects in coordination with outside engineering groups, contractors or service.
  • Facilitate development of project scopes, schedules, cost estimates and subsequent detailed engineering. Review contracting plans, engineering and contractor selection and procurement strategies for each initiative to ensure successful completion
  • Responsibilities include working with project sponsors and outside contractors to develop detailed scopes of work to include costs, preparing bid documents, establishing job execution plans, and communicating project schedules, milestones, and progress to all relevant stakeholders.
  • Coordinate CEA (Capital Expenditure Authorization) preparation and Project charters with Finance and project sponsors
  • Select and oversee engineering and field contractors to complete projects
  • Support business optimization and cost reduction initiatives and projects
  • Complete MOC, SHEAP, risk assessments, etc. in support of projects and other changes
  • Other technical related duties to meet the needs of the business

What you'll bring

  • BS University degree in Engineering required
  • Minimum 2 years of Project Engineering experience in mining or mineral processing engineering or other heavy industrial industry.
  • Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office software is required
  • Good critical thinking, data analysis and problem-solving skills
  • Effective communication skills including verbal, written and presentation skills
  • Proven ability to work effectively both independently and in a team-based environment
  • Demonstrated willingness to be flexible and adaptable to changing priorities
  • Strong multi-tasking and organizational skills
