Primary Purpose of Position
To undertake activities that improve student academic, social and emotional development. This includes managing, promoting, and leading activities in areas of recruitment, admissions, orientation, registration and retention of students.
Primary Function of Organizational Unit
North Carolina A&T State University is a public, doctoral high research land-grant University that enrolls approximately 13,487 students. The University is a learner-centered community that develops and preserves intellectual capital through interdisciplinary learning, discovery, engagement, and operational excellence.

The College of Engineering, with over 2,402 students, has EAC ABET-accredited undergraduate programs in Architectural, Bioengineering, Biological, Civil, Chemical, Computer, Electrical, Industrial, and Mechanical Engineering, as well as a CAC ABET-accredited program in Computer Science. At the Graduate level, the College has 8 Masters of Science Degree programs, and 5 Doctoral programs. Additional information about the College and the University can be found at www.ncat.edu/coe.

The Mechanical Engineering Department has 13 full-time faculty members and offers BS, MS and Ph.D. degrees. The department enrolls over 360 undergraduate students, 9 masters and 35 doctoral students. The department currently offers Bachelor of Science, Master of Science, and Doctor of Philosophy Degrees in Mechanical Engineering. The ME undergraduate degree program is accredited by the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology, Inc. and has an Aerospace option for students who are interested in aerodynamics, aero-propulsion, avionics and aero-structures. An Honors program is available for those students with a strong academic background and research interest. Our faculty members and their graduate students perform research in such areas as materials, aerospace, structural health monitoring, thermal management, micro-mechanics and micro-fluidics, CFD, control systems, design and manufacturing.

Coordinate and administer undergraduate students' professional and social activities. Manage and monitor these activities and assess their impact on the student experience.

Interacts with and advises current students.
Informs and advises students on program requirements and processes. Compiles and maintains statistics for departmental records, surveys, annual report, program reviews.

Duties
Develop activities to encourage effective working relationships with and among students, parents, faculty and staff and other external entities such as industrial partners and the alumni.

Effectively advises students on academic and administrative questions. Interacts in person and responds to written inquiries via email and communicates with students regarding deadlines, status and other specific needs. Understands the needs of students and recognizes how decisions impact other program areas in the College and University.

Duties
Develop and manage procedures for data collecting, organizing, filing, and reporting of all activities and responsibilities associated with the position.
