It is part of the Pemex group, a fully integrated oil company in the Americas, working across the entire value chain: exploration, production, industrial processing/refining, logistics, and marketing. The refinery’s rated capacity is 340,000 barrels per day and has the feed flexibility to process multiple grades of crudes to produce the high-quality transportation fuels the world needs. The Pemex site is co-located with other 3rd party chemical facilities, allowing for further integration and optimization of the refinery and its products. As a Commercial Supply Trader, you will be a key member of the Business Management team at PEMEX Deer Park, one of the largest and most complex refineries in the United States. Processing approximately 340 kbd of crude and feedstocks, PEMEX Deer Park produces a significant volume of refined products. In this role, you purchase, sell, and trade crude and feedstocks to ensure a steady supply for the refinery, utilizing a mix of spot, medium-term, and long-term agreements. You will be expected to closely collaborate with colleagues at PEMEX Deer Park and its parent company, PMI Services North America, Inc., to maximize the refinery’s Gross Refining Margin and align with PEMEX’s broader strategic objectives.

 

To be successful, you should have:        

  • Degree in Engineering or Business with significant commercial experience in hydrocarbons.
  • Proven physical marketing, supply, and trading expertise and understanding of global and regional market dynamics.
  • Experience in commercial negotiations, deal origination, and business development.
  • Solid understanding of market exposure and risk management.

 

As the Supply Trader, you will be accountable for managing crude term and spot arrangements for the PEMEX Deer Park Refinery. You will work closely with the Business Management Economics & Scheduling team, the Business Development team, and colleagues across the broader PEMEX portfolio to ensure an optimal crude supply. Your specific responsibilities will include:

  • Trade crude and manage positions to supply the refinery and maximize margin, including derivative transactions and hedging.
  • Develop crude trading opportunities, negotiate spot and term contracts, and ensure contract compliance.
  • Collaborate with Economics, Scheduling, and Marine teams to coordinate cost-effective logistics and support operational needs.
  • Build relationships with new suppliers and industry experts to improve Deer Park’s gross margin and represent PEMEX Deer Park at industry forums.
  • Communicate trading strategies, resolve commercial disputes, and ensure compliance with all applicable regulations.
